    4-H "Souper" Saturday Great Success!

4-H "Souper" Saturday was held March 21, 2009 in Keller. This free event was open to all 4-H members, leaders, parents and non-4-H youth accompanied by a parent or guardian. The participants came out and celebrated March as National Nutrition Month.

The 4-H youth and community adult members made Powwow Soup and No-Fry Frybread with Judy Moses, Family and Consumer Sciences Educator on the Colville Reservation. This made a great lunch for all and everyone even asked for the recipe so they could make it at home.

Other activities included sewing hot pads with Okanogan County 4-H Agent Ann Fagerlie. We hear these will make great Mother's Day gifts! Colville Reservation 4-H Leaders Karen Neal and Dolly Brudevold taught a class on making model tipis.

Ferry County 4-H Sewing Machine Donation

Quilting Pals 4-H'er Receives Sewing Machine

7/11/08 - 4-H member was awarded a sewing machine donated by Linda Peterson. Linda is a past 4-H member who learned how to sew through her 4-H projects and wanted that opportunity for others. The 4-H Leaders Council decided to award this brand new machine to the winner of a letter writing competition. The recipient's 4-H and community service activities were very impressive. It is hoped she will use this sewing machine to help strengthen her 4-H sewing and quilting skills!

    Ferry County 4-H Quilting Pals

Quilting Pals 4-H Club Present Quilts to Nursing Home Residents

4/19/07 - The Quilting Pals 4-H Club members top idea was to make lap quilts for the nursing home residents in the fall of 2007. Their first step was to contact Ferry County Memorial Hospital’s Nursing Home Director to obtain a number of quilts to be made. To their surprise, twelve quilts were requested. The 4-H’ers began piecing the quilts in November. They continued working on them through the winter along with their 4-H leaders by their side, guiding them. By spring all twelve lap quilts were complete and ready to deliver. With great pride, the 4-H’ers presented each resident with a lap quilt. Receiving the quilts was a great delight to each recipient. They also enjoyed the company of the 4-H’ers presenting them.
